"His ears are attentive..."  I Peter 3:12

PRAYER LIST
Updated July 1, 2008

·        Craig Hill writes, “Our emotional roller-coaster continues.  Dad had some type of seizure last night and was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Florence.  They stabilized him with medication and he was sent home later.  Not sure what his condition truly is day to day or what his future holds.  God’s will be done and prayers for peace as he faces health issues are welcomed.”  Craig’s Dad’s name is Johnnie Hill.  Please pray for him.

·        I received this e-mail on behalf of Mickey Bell.  “Thank you all for your prayers and concern for our Micky.  Please continue to pray.  If you would like to help him and his family financially you may do so through the Jersey Village church of Christ.  Make the check payable to the church and note it for Micky Bell.  All donations handled in this way are tax deductible.  The address is as follows…Jersey Village church of Christ 8810 Jones Rd. Houston, TX  77065  Please pass this and all messages regarding Micky's condition on to anyone that knows him.  He and his family need our prayers so desperately.  Thank you.”

·        Gregg Waycaster’s surgery is Thursday.  Please lift him up in prayer.

·        Tiffany Kemp writes, “I will be traveling (Flying) to New York on 7/3 and returning on 7/7. I am asking for prayer that I have a safe flight there and back.  Devin will be staying with my mother & father while I’m gone. Pray for my parents that take good care of Devin while I’m gone. Thanks a bunch!”

·        Mary Sue Tipton writes, “Please include David on your prayer list.  On July 9th, David will have a colonoscopy and on July 10th he will have colon surgery.  David was diagnosed with diverticulitis 4 weeks ago.    It was about to abscess so all the infection had to be cleared before surgery.  He has lost a great deal of weight and has been in severe pain.  Please keep him in your prayers.”

·        Amanda Cabaniss writes, “My friend and co-worker, Mamie Ziegler passed away yesterday from her metastatic breast cancer. Her hospice nurse told me she died very peacefully with her husband and daughter by her side. Her minister was there and someone from her church choir was there singing her up to Heaven. Mamie taught the 2-3 yr olds in Sunday School at the Church of the Advent for many years so I know she has a special spot in Heaven. Please pray for her family and thanks for all of the previous prayers that Mamie stay pain-free because they worked!  Thanks.”

Praises

  • Lexi Waldon was baptized last Wednesday night!  We praise God!  There was a party going on in Heaven!
  • Kelly Jacobs writes, “I got my MRI results and it was great news.  I have a tear in the medial head of the gastrocnemius (upper and inner part of the big calf muscle).  There was a lot of bleeding which pooled in my lower leg so the discomfort I'm feeling near my Achilles tendon is due to that swelling...THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE TENDON!  YIPPEE!  NO SURGERY!  I start physical therapy soon and have been told to let pain be my guide.  So I can try to start driving and see if I can handle the movement of my foot up and down.  And I can start putting some weight on my leg.  (Of course, when I asked about when I can start working out, the doc kind of laughed at me and said it was way too early to even ask.  Oh well...) For me, this was answered prayer and a BEST CASE SCENARIO and I AM THRILLED!  Please tell everyone I appreciate the prayers and that God made me well!”
  • Craig Hill writes, “Praise from the Hill family – my father’s test revealed no cancer, which is great news.  Big relief and thanks for the answered prayers.”  We praise God!  Continue to lift up Johnnie Hill in your prayers.
  • Devan Cooley was able to get back on the ice last week.  We praise God for healing and I would not want to be a hockey goalie now that Devan is back in action!
  • Jordan Sullivan was in a car accident last weekend.  Thankfully the only injury sustained had to do with a toenail.  We thank God for the blessing of protection over Jordan and the four other people in the accident.

·        Shay Brewer’s father, James Hartline, had his kidney transplant postponed earlier in the year.  Tests were run on his heart and blockages were found, but recently he has enjoyed the blessing of good health.  He’s able to cut the grass and function much better.  We praise God and ask Him for the continued blessing of good health for Mr. Hartline.

Prayer Requests

  • Gregg Waycaster has scheduled surgery July 3rd to remove cancer.  Please pray for him and the family through this process.
  • Susan Rogers has been having some problems with her health.  If you get time, give her a call this week at 991-9517 and let her know you are praying for her.
  • Micky Bell, past minister for Hoover, has been in Texas for the past six months without his family.  They are waiting to sell the house before Linda and the boys join him.  Micky only sees them 5 days a month.  In March, Micky started not feeling well and they found he was anemic and started treatment but he did not get any better.  Earlier this month they found a mass in his small intestines and said there is a 65% chance he has cancer.  Recent surgery has shown cancer is in his pancreas and intestines.  We said a prayer for him on Wednesday night and he asks for prayers for his healing and to be able to have his family with him as they all really need each other at this time.  Please lift this fellow believer up in prayer.
  • Julie Meador writes, “Please add a very dear lady to the prayer list:  Angela Hernandez is having an arteriogram Wednesday and open heart surgery Thursday to replace the aorta valve.  She’s in her early 80s but has several health issues so there’s additional concern.  Angela has survived so much in her life—she fled Cuba when Castro took office with only a bit of clothing and her 3 daughters-her husband was detained for some time but finally joined the family.  She is an amazing lady!”
  • Joey Lenoir’s left thumb is swollen and in pain.  It is not broken but doctors are trying to determine next steps.  Please lift him up in prayer.
  • Clay Hardin, age 3, is having developmental problems believed to be autism.  Please pray for him.
  • Randy Falls, Lindsay Walker’s Dad, is undergoing treatments for myloma (bone cancer) and is awaiting a stem cell transplant in a few months.  Please lift him up in prayer.
  • Jessica Balentine’s friend Amy Adday is struggling with the death of her baby born prematurely.  Please lift her up to the Lord.
  • Jessica’s grandfather Charles Wheeler is receiving treatment for cancer in his kidneys at UAB.  Lift him up in your prayers.
  • Chris Coons’ Dad, Granvil Coons is having surgery on his neck today.  Please pray for quick healing.  Pam asks that we continue to lift up her Dad, Fred Siegel.  He is struggling with Parkinson’s symptoms and experiencing additional problems because of the medicine being used to treat the disease.  Pray for relief and that his condition will stabilize.
  • Tina Hebert’s supervisor at UAB suffered a miscarriage.  Please lift up Kitty and Fran in your prayers.  Jason’s uncle will be having a procedure on his bladder for cancer he is experiencing.  Pray for him.  The Hebert’s will be closing on their loft soon and Tina is completing her dissertation.  Keep these situations covered in prayer.
  • Lee asked us to lift up Dan Kauper and pray that God will open employment doors for him.
  • Mary Sue Tipton writes, “Hello.  I wanted to update you concerning my father.  David, Jennifer (our daughter), Burch (our son) and I flew to Texas to be with my father and mother for the last several days. It was my mother’s 85th birthday.  My father did pretty well until Sunday when he started to become weaker.  I am afraid that he set her birthday as a goal. That he would live until her birthday. We flew home last night as scheduled.  My mother took him to the emergency room this morning by ambulance.  He is becoming weaker and weaker.  My father told me Sunday that he has made peace with his situation and he is not afraid of dying.  His only concern was for my mother. She has taken care of him all these years and since diagnosis, she has not left his side. His passing could take hours, days, weeks or months.  Please pray for him, Joe Carr and for my mother, Elizabeth Carr.”  We will pray Mary Sue.  May the peace from God surround you.
  • Howard Dodson will be coming home for a 2 week stay starting July 4th.  It will be a blessing to see him.  Pray for a safe trip.

  • Keep Devin White in your prayers as his medicine continues to work.  Keep Tiffany Kemp in your prayers as well.
  • Paul Lewis writes, “A co-worker just came in and showed me a picture of her new grandson and asked me to add him to our prayer list. His name is Will and he is at UAB in the NICU. He was born ~13 weeks early and is only 1.5 lbs. He is active and opens his eyes and seems to be doing well, but is still developing. Please pray for him and his family.”

Subsequent tests have shown that he now has metastatic prostate cancer. He will get spot radiation to the painful areas & radioactive infusions. He is 91yr old (but very independent), so we are not sure how he will do.  Pray that he will tolerate everything without any problems.”
