CrossBridge 101
An Introduction to CrossBridge
History of CrossBridge
CrossBridge
Church of Christ began on July 2, 1998, when fifteen families met in the living
room
of Jack and Connie Kemph.
In March of 2000, the church purchased 24 acres
of land on Brook
Highland Parkway for the church's
permanent location. Ground was broken for the first phase
of the new facility in February of
2003 and the first service was held in September of that same year.
CrossBridge - The Name
The name
"CrossBridge" philosophically captures the core vision and values of its
participants
who understand that the Cross of
Christ forms a bridge from a broken world of sin, despair, and
indifference to God's much-needed
grace, hope, and love. The name is to be a constant
reminder to its members that they
have received these transformational gifts from God, and
that they, therefore, are to be
instruments of these divine gifts to others.
Vision and Values
The full text of the
vision statement is as follows: CrossBridge exists to glorify God and
spread
the word of our loving Savior.
Our sincere passion for the Lord inspires us to lead lives of humble
service to our neighbors, free from a
spirit of judgment or condemnation.
With childlike hearts,
we keep our eyes on Christ, living as
children of God. Sharing our faith - the good news of His
faithfulness - we cross the bridge to
grace, hope, and love. Sustained by His spirit and compelled
by His life, we experience our life
walk with Jesus and travel the one path that leads to joy and
peace, now and in the life to come.
The following acrostic captures the essence of the core values:
Christ is
the center of our lives
Renewing our hearts through
joyful
worship
Open
only to God's calling
Seeking God through scripture
Sustained
by the Holy Spirit
Building
relationships through service and outreach
Relevant,
Bible teaching
Involved
with, and bringing hope to, today's families
Demonstrating God's love
through love for others
Growing
our relationship with God through prayer
Exalting
Christ in everything we
do.
Membership
CrossBridge recognizes
as Christians all baptized believers who acknowledge and follow
Jesus Christ as the unique Son of
God. Those adults who wish to be a part of the CrossBridge
Church must, therefore, meet these
fundamental requirements. Further, they are expected
to become involved in the life of the
CrossBridge Church through (1) maturing in their faith
and (2) ministering to others.
CrossBridge offers a wide variety of opportunities to pursue both
of these goals. If you are
interested in placing membership at CrossBridge, please speak to
someone on our ministry staff for
further information. Click here for a
membership form in
PDF format. Members are
expected to mature in faith, minister to others, have a mission in the
world, and support work at
CrossBridge through time, finances, and talents.
